The price of the US dollar in Colombia fell on Wednesday, amid a respite from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine due to the rebound in oil prices and comments by the president of the Federal Reserve (Fed) on interest rates that investors were reassured.

The negative effect of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine was offset by the rise in crude oil, an important generator of foreign exchange for countries in the region, which exceeded US$110 a barrel.

The Latin American region, unlike other emerging regions, has very few commercial relations withn Russia, with which the direct impact is less and also exports many commodities, in particular oil, coal and gas, which today are benefiting,” explained Camilo Pérez, chief economist at Banco de Bogotá, according to the Reuters agency.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index of the Colombian stock market, the MSCI COLCAP, lost 0.54% in the previous day.
