Ripened goat cheeses sold at Auchan and Carrefour are currently the subject of a preventive recall by the company Bettinehoeve, indicates the site Oulah!. In question, a possible infection with Listeria. “Bettine strongly advises against the consumption of the products because they could contain traces of Listeria monocytogenes”, specifies a press release from the company.

“Although there is no indication of contamination in locally produced products, a potential source of contamination was identified during the tests, corrective and preventive measures were taken to guarantee the food safety of the products”, is it added.

At Auchan, the product is sold in the self-service cheese department. It bears the barcode 3060921463206 and the health stamp FR 62 907 030 CE. The best use date is between 10/28/2020 and 11/22/2020. The cheese sold at Carrefour has the barcode 3060921505043 and the same health stamp. The use-by date is set between 10/29/2020 and 11/16/2020. Customers who hold these products are therefore advised not to consume them. They can destroy them or bring them back to the store for a refund.

People who have consumed the cheeses in question and who “have a fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, are invited to consult their doctor by notifying him of this consumption,” said the press release. Pregnant women, immunosuppressed people and the elderly should be especially vigilant in the event of symptoms. The incubation period for listeriosis can be up to eight weeks.
