The price of the US dollar in Peru was on the rise in the informal or parallel market today, Tuesday, April 26, 2022. The exchange rate rose to S/ 3,770 for purchase and S/ 3,810 for sale, according to exchange houses in Lima.

On the other hand, in the interbank market, the greenback closed at S/ 3,806, according to data provided by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR).

The monetary entity detailed that the dollar has a decline of 4.62% so far in 2022, compared to the result recorded at the end of last year (S / 3,991).

The foreign currency registered an appreciation of 10.28% at the end of 2021 due to the impact of political uncertainty and doubts about the economic outlook due to the new variants of the coronavirus.

At the regional level, the currencies and stock markets of Latin America recorded heavy losses on Monday, affected by a global wave of risk aversion that boosted the dollar in world markets due to doubts about the recovery of the economy due to increases in interest rates, coronavirus outbreaks in China, and the war in Ukraine.

According to the Reuters agency, the dollar touched its maximum in two years on Monday, due to a wave of risk aversion that spread through world markets, while the yuan was headed for its longest losing streak of three days in almost four. years, due to growing concern about an economic slowdown in China.

With the war in Ukraine entering a third month and growing concerns over a COVID-19 outbreak in China sending Chinese stocks tumbling, investors were dumping currency market favorites like the Australian dollar and offshore yuan. .

Against a basket of major currencies, the dollar was up 0.6% at 101.62, a level last seen in March 2020, and headed for its biggest daily gain since March 11.
