Price of the dollar today in Mexico: know how much the exchange rate is this May 20

The price of the dollar in Mexico operates this Friday on the rise, amid renewed fears regarding the recovery of the world economy, given the expected tightening of monetary policy by the United States Federal Reserve to deal with the advance of inflation.

The exchange rate ended the session on Thursday at 19.9455 Mexican pesos per dollar, a slight advance of 0.14% compared to the reference price of the Bloomberg agency on Wednesday. For the day of May 20, the value of the dollar will be known in the early hours of the day.

The US currency was trading lower and the exchange rate is trading at 19.94 pesos per dollar, according to data from the Bloomberg agency.

The Mexican peso is the official currency of Mexico and the fifteenth most traded currency worldwide, as well as the third in the region, below the US dollar and the Canadian dollar.

The Mexican currency was the first to use the ‘$’ sign which was later popularized by the United States with US dollars. Also, since 1993 the abbreviation for the Mexican peso is ‘MXN’.

In Mexico, one peso is equivalent to 100 cents and there are coins of 1, 5, 10 and 20 pesos, as well as bills of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1,000 pesos.

The dollar rose amid concerns about global economic growth prospects and accelerating inflation weighing on sentiment, after US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell struck a more dovish tone.

According to Reuters, operators pointed out that the concern about the tightening of central banks’ monetary policies could generate a slowdown in the growth of the economy, which has turned investors away from risky assets and has led them to make sales and seek refuge in the dollar.

Markets are likely to see a short-term rebound before resuming the sell-off, which has seen Wall Street’s Nasdaq tech index lose more than 25% since the start of the year, BofA analysts wrote in a weekly strategy note. .
