The price of the dollar in Colombia for this Wednesday, June 8, 2022 is 3,787 Colombian pesos, according to Reuters data, after two upward sessions; while in the stock market, the MSCI COLCAP stock index contracted 1.31% to 1,587.07 points.
At the regional level, most Latin American currencies fell for the second consecutive day on Tuesday due to greater aversion to risk assets and despite a global decline in the dollar, amid fears for the future of the world economy, while stock markets posted a mixed close.
According to the Reuters agency, the central bank of Australia raised its interest rates by 50 basis points, which caused concern that there may be more aggressive monetary adjustments to face inflation, something that would slow down the economic recovery. The entity announced that there would be more hikes, as part of its efforts to curb rising inflation.
The dollar index, meanwhile, rallied from highs hit earlier on Tuesday and fell, after Wall Street erased its initial low amid rising hopes that inflation may have peaked, but the greenback hit its highest level in 20 years against the yen.
The three main Wall Street indices closed with a rise of close to 1%.
