At a regional level, the currency and stock markets of Latin America closed Tuesday with losses, with investors adjusting their portfolios on the eve of the announcements of the Federal Reserve, which point to a more restrictive monetary stance amid the clouds over the worldwide economy.
According to the Reuters agency, analysts and operators are leaning towards the Fed announcing a 75 basis point rate hike on Wednesday and now estimate that the cycle will hit a maximum of 4%, instead of the 3% that was projected last month. past, which is pushing agents to take refuge in safer assets.
“The prospect of a much more aggressive stance by the Federal Reserve, as well as other central banks, weighs heavily on riskier assets”said Pierre Veyret, a technical analyst at ActivTrades.
“Investors fear that these policies could seriously jeopardize global economic prospects, already pressured by geopolitical issues, the virus situation in Asia and current inflation, while recession sets in in the medium and long term in many areas”he added.
