Dollar in Peru: what is the exchange rate today, Monday, June 20

The price of the US dollar in Peru was on the rise in the informal or parallel market today, Monday, June 20, 2022. The exchange rate rose to S/ 3,710 for purchase and S/ 3,740 for sale, according to exchange houses in Lima.

On the other hand, in the interbank market, the greenback closed at S/ 3,721, according to data provided by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR).

So far this year, the greenback accumulates a decline of 6.77% compared to the last price of 2021, at S / 3,991.

The foreign currency registered an appreciation of 10.28% at the end of 2021 due to the impact of political uncertainty and doubts about the economic outlook due to the new variants of the coronavirus.

At the regional level, the exchange and stock markets of Latin America closed a week of losses on Friday, due to the fact that the preference for the dollar was maintained amid global risk aversion due to concerns about the world economy.

According to the Reuters agency, the impact extended to the raw materials market, with a drop of around 6% in oil prices, an important generator of foreign exchange for many countries in the region.

“This is how the moderation of the prices of metals such as copper or the student affect the price of currencies in Chile and Peru. In the same way, a decline in oil prices affects the behavior of the Mexican and Colombian currencies,” explained David Cubides, chief economist at the Alianza brokerage.

“On the other hand, the increase in the risk premium also partly explains the depreciation of the region’s currencies so far in June. Additionally, Brazil and Colombia must be added the uncertainty that the electoral process continues to generate, ”he added.
