US growth this year will be a meager 1.6%, down 0.7 percentage point from July, which is an unexpected contraction in GDP in the second quarter. The IMF kept its expansion forecast for the world’s largest economy unchanged at 1% during 2023.

Meanwhile, the IMF raised its forecasts for economic growth in 2022 for Latin America and the Caribbean, while lowering its expansion projection for 2023 due to changes in commodity prices and external financing conditions.

His growth outlook for this year is 3.5% from his July estimate of 3%.

For 2023, the IMF projection for the expansion of production in Latin America and the Caribbean was reduced by 0.3 percentage points to 1.7%.
