The maximum amount per working day that a company can pay in restaurant tickets, lunch vouchers or Apetiz cards to its employees will now be 13 euros against 11.84 euros so far. Indeed, the executive has adopted an amendment along these lines tabled by Les Républicains as part of the first part of the finance bill for 2023.
Thus, a company can pay up to 2,900 euros each year via this system without paying social security contributions. Half is directly deducted from the salaries of the employees while the other is paid to the company which provides the meal vouchers, details BFM TV.
140 million euros loss for the State
This measure will represent a shortfall of 140 million euros for the State, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. And for good reason, when the employer pays restaurant vouchers to his employees, he does not pay social contributions on this amount and the employees do not pay taxes on these sums.
Between 4.5 and 5 million workers would benefit from meal vouchers out of the 25 million workers in France.
