Fuel: the price of diesel fuel is falling … but will rise very quickly

Good news for motorists equipped with a diesel engine. A liter of diesel, the country’s most consumed fuel, cost an average of 1.80 euros, or three cents less than the previous week, according to data released on Monday by the Ministry of Transitional Energy. The SP95-E10 remains stable at €1.62.

These prices also take into account the state aid, which is 30 centimes per liter of fuel. 20 cent boost at TotalEnergies Service Stations. You don’t need a crystal ball to predict that the gas bill will get tougher. From Wednesday, and in line with announcements from Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne, motorists will pay much more to fill up their tanks. Because state aid will fall by 20 kopecks, let’s stop at 10 cents. The French oil group also announced that its own shares would also fall to 10 cents.

Stations are always dry

These increases will end December 31st. Then the system of assistance should be replaced by “those who can hardly make ends meet”, not knowing at the moment either the contours or the amount.

An announced cut in gas station discounts caused shortages. Gas stations without fuel this Monday, November 14, are much more than at the end of October. The situation is tense in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and in Ile-de-France. According to the official website prix-carburants.gouv.fr, nearly 13% of French gas stations were out of fuel on Monday, compared with 9.8% at the end of October during the refinery strike.
