A seven-ton dollar made in Haute-Sauna for an American collector.

This is a special delivery that the Jengérard company in Lure (Haut-Saone) is going to organize. Large package 8 m long, 3.50 wide, for a total weight of 7 tons when the assembly is fully secured.

In fact, Jengérard was chosen to complete an art project that had begun a few months earlier in the heart of neighboring Alsace, in Heimsbrunn (Haut-Rhin). It was at the Strassacker Foundry in this city near Mulhouse that the amazing giant dollar was cast.

It is the artist Carl Lagasse, known for his giant pieces such as the 4m high gorilla or the Maserati intervention, who created this new dollar, the largest he has made since 2009, the start date of his XXL collection of the famous little dollar that makes the world go round.

200 hours of work required

The commissioning collector remains anonymous. But we know that he lives in the United States. A giant dollar bill will be sent to New York or Texas. In its small factory in Loure, Jengérard and its ten employees ensure the completion of their specialty: polishing. It will take two hundred hours of work to make a dollar perfect.

“Originally, we specialized in industrial polishing, but in some sectors orders have been reduced or completely stopped, such as in the automotive sector,” explains David Gengerard, head of the company. Today we are more and more engaged in artistic polishing. »

Gengerard is currently working at Vuitton on, among other things, brass for leather goods, Guy Degrenne cutlery, high quality speakers, and the Victoires de la Musique trophies awarded annually to winners.

The completion of this giant dollar will be a major milestone for Lure, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
