Wall Street opens in green and the Dow Jones rises 0.55%

Wall Street The day began this Wednesday in green and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, added 0.55%, after the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced a reduction in the year-on-year inflation rate, which stood at 5% in March.

Ten minutes after the start of operations at the NYSEthe Dow Jones rose to 33,869.98 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.22% to 4,131.52 points.

For its part, the composite index of the Nasdaq market, in which the main technology companies are listed, added 0.58% to 12,101.20 integers.

The Big Apple stock market was encouraged by the new figures on inflation that exceeded expectations and fell for the ninth consecutive month.

This is the strongest drop since the indicator began to decline in July 2022 and, according to the agency, the inflation rate of 5% is the lowest since May 2021.

In monthly terms, consumer prices rose one tenth, instead of the four they rose in February, at a time when the Federal Reserve is closely analyzing the effects of interest rate hikes on prices.

For many investors, this could mean the Federal Reserve (Fed) ending its interest rate hike campaign this year.

The next Fed meeting will be in early May.

Tomorrow the producer price index will be published.

While this Friday three of the largest banks in the country, JPMorgan Chase, Well Fargo and Citigroup, will announce their results.

So will the largest health insurer, UnitedHealth Group.

The sectors that opened with the highest profits were financial and non-essential goods, with an increase of 0.94% and 0.77%, respectively, while the only sector in red was public services, which fell by 0 .08%.

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the companies with the biggest losses were Johnson & Johnson (-0.33%) and Procter & Gamble (-0.16%). While the biggest gains were for Dow (2.21%) and Home Depot (1.51%).
