Ten years after its inception, L’Appui, a postal bank service dedicated to financially struggling clients, will move forward. In addition to the thirty advisors based in Paris, a second platform of ten agents will open in Ajaccio (Corse-du-Sud).

Reason? The increase in demand is due to high inflation and purchasing power problems. Between 2021 and 2022, the number of requests increased by 23% and today stands at 250 calls per day.

It should be said that the Postal Bank, the only institution with a public service mission in support of banking integration, has among its clients 1.7 million people in a state of financial instability, that is, 40% of the 4 million French who are in a state of financial instability. this situation.

“It has always been in the DNA of La Banque Postale to support the most vulnerable,” explains Marion Ruso, General Manager of Retail Banking, elaborating that more than 280,000 French people have used L’Appui since its inception.

Support for better management of your finances

Postal Bank customers who are referred to this platform by branch employees in situations of financial instability, whether temporary or long-term, receive support there to help them manage their finances.

At the other end of the line are consultants specially trained “on issues of regulation, social benefits, an associative ecosystem and the psychological accounting of clients in a situation of financial instability,” we check at the bank’s post office.

“We analyze how they manage their budget, give them recommendations, accompany them to receive unclaimed social benefits, refer them to specific associations such as Crésus for over-indebtedness, the Malin program for discounts on baby food, food banks …”, lists Marion Russo.

Clients who do not yet use it are also offered a banking offer dedicated to fragile clients for 1 euro per month called “Ease Account Formula”: an account without overdraft, with a card with systematic authorization and, above all, with the restriction of banking operations. incident fee of 20 euros per month.
