Strikes: SNCF to compensate TGV subscribers

After major turmoil, SNCF took steps. The railroad group will issue compensation to TGV subscribers after consecutive strikes by railroad workers over the past four months, mobilized against pension reform. Unlike casual travelers whose ticket is automatically refunded when a train is cancelled, subscribers usually do not receive any compensation. In total, “twenty thousand” customers were affected.

In an email sent late last week to several user associations, SNCF Voyageurs announces that it will “send an exceptional measure to all Max Actif +/Max Actif subscription holders corresponding to a 50 percent reduction in the monthly payment in June.” »

Owners of a monthly or weekly “LGV package” that allows unlimited travel on a specific high-speed line will be able to receive “between 15% and 20% of the amount of their package depending on the months affected by the strikes, up to 50% if three monthly packages are affected.” “, – stated in the same letter. These “passengers” will have to file a claim for compensation – with supporting documents – through the “processing platform” between June 1 and 30.

“Incommensurate with the damage done”

“This does not apply to damages since December, we are reprimanding the association of users of the TGV Tours-Paris line. We spend between 500 and 700 euros per month and we have not been able to use all the services that have deteriorated greatly with significant professional impact. We require a one-time refund of 500 euros for all French TGV subscribers, no booking conditions! »

Compensation will be received not only by passengers using high-speed lines. Last week, transport minister Clément Beaune announced the gesture to Intercités users whose circulation was hit hard during the social movements. All customers who subscribe for January, February, March or April will receive a 50% refund. The rest of the “regular travelers” will receive a check for €100 if they make more than five round trips in a month.

With regard to TER users administered by the regions, only subscribers of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes network will receive compensation for March alone. The owners of the monthly plan received a refund of 50% of its amount by transfer. Those with an annual subscription received a 50% discount on the May fee.
