European stocks open almost flat ahead of Powell and UK CPI

The European stock markets have opened the session on Wednesday practically flat, with slight falls except for Milan, in a session in which the center of attention is on the presentation of the biannual economic policy report by the president of the US Federal ReserveJerome Powell, and on UK inflation data.

At the opening, only Milan rose a slight 0.07%, while London was the one that fell the most, 0.44%, followed by Paris, with 0.14%, Frankfurt, with 0.08% and Madrid , with 0.05%.

The Euro Stoxx50, an index that includes the European companies with the largest capitalization, also lost 0.19%.

Wall Street closed this Tuesday with losses and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, fell 0.72%, thus breaking part of the momentum achieved last week.

Investors will be watching today, in addition to the UK CPI, the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the month of May also in this country, while in the euro area, the new car registration figure will be published.

Early this afternoon, at 4:00 p.m., it will be Powell’s turn to appear before the House Committee on Financial Services after a pause in rate hikes was announced last week. interest.

In the debt market, the interest on the ten-year German bond rises and stands at 2.446%, while the Spanish one also advances to 3.382%.

Regarding raw materials, gold falls 0.13% and the price of an ounce stands at US$ 1,945.1, while oil rises and Brent, the benchmark in Europe, advances 0 .38% to US$76.19.

For its part, the benchmark in the US, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), also rises 0.46% to US$ 71.52 a barrel, before the official opening of the market.

The euro depreciates slightly, 0.04%, compared to the “green ticket” but continues to change above US$ 1.09.
