Towards an increase in the housing tax on second homes

the housing tax on furnished second homes in Marseille will be sharply increased. The current increase in this tax, about to be abolished for main residences, will rise from 20% to 60%. This decision, unveiled by Provence, is on the agenda of the municipal council scheduled for October 1, as has been verified 20 Minutes.

This deliberation is particularly aimed at housing rented via specialized platforms, such as Airbnb, while the Marseille rental market is experiencing “persistent tensions”, notes the town hall in the municipal council’s preparation file. Under certain conditions, exceptions to this surcharge will be possible, in particular for “people forced to reside in a place separate from their main home for professional reasons”, and “people of modest means, accommodated in a care establishment”.
