Wall Street opens on mixed ground and the Dow Jones rises 0.10%

Wall Street opened this Tuesday on mixed ground and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, rose 0.10%.

Ten minutes after the start of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones stood at 34,594 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.06%, up to 4,436 points.

Investors seem to have reacted with moderate optimism to the words of the Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman, Jerome Powell, during the economic conference in Jackson Hole (Wyoming) last Friday.

Powell affirmed that the regulator will continue to maintain high rates until inflation is controlled, although he opened the door to a possible pause in the increases.

As of Tuesday morning, investors believed with a probability of more than 21% that the Fed could raise rates again at its next meeting in September, according to CME Group’s FedWatch tool.

By sectors, the main gains were for communications and health, with increases of 0.64 and 0.62%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the technology and real estate sectors were the ones that fell the most (-0.29 and -0.14, respectively).

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest losses were for Salesforce (-1.11%) and Microsoft (-0.45%), while the biggest gains were for Verizon (2.01%) and 3M (1.87%). %).
