This profession that recruits: become a production manager

Not because you have a private home, you are a DIY master, you can do everything with ten fingers to “refresh” your sweet home. Especially at a time when we are talking about the great topic of energy renewal and the savings that need to be made.

Better insulation of your home, choosing the right heating system, finding the right windows requires some experience. And if we add to all this the wilds of state aid, then there is something to get lost in. Because? In recent years, a new profession has emerged: production manager. It is conceived as the missing link between construction professionals and individuals.

Mikael Di Luca entered this niche ten years ago with the creation of Avenir Rénovations, after a first career in aeronautics with Air France. “I noticed that there was a drawback and, above all, a real need,” says the manager. People were looking for a person who could quantify and control the total amount of work, working with specialized companies that he himself had chosen and referred to. »

“A mixture of business manager and production manager”

Therefore, the plant manager will make your life easier. Moreover, it is on his shoulders that all guarantees will then fall, in particular the famous ten-year warranty, which is so important in case of poor-quality workmanship or problems. “This profession is a mixture of a project manager and a works manager,” continues Mikael Di Luca. It is necessary to be accurate in the calculation of the cost of construction, the choice of craftsmen, be attentive to the attitude towards customers, to meeting deadlines, to the quality of services. »

Despite this range of qualities, beginners are welcome, even if having some basic construction knowledge is still a major advantage. Indeed, training is offered in many franchises. This is one of the reasons why this booming profession attracts people who already have their first professional life.

They often want to become more independent and create a business in which they thrive. Moreover, the salaries are quite attractive – about 3,000 euros per month net at the start – and the fixed costs (especially local ones) are small, because you can play sports – if you open a franchise – from home. However, be careful, investing time is important: interviewing clients, observing construction companies during the day, and in the evening diving into the administrative part…

“He is a conductor”

“It is a conduit for all stakeholders in the renovation site,” analyzes Corinne Maupin, director of the “House and Heart of France” division of the certification agency Cerqual, for his part. The latter makes it possible to improve the quality of repairs, in particular, through the use of low-carbon materials. “For the successful execution of works, the key to success is the coordination of the actions of various companies, between the plumber, the heating engineer … The order in which each of them intervenes is important. If it is poorly organized, it can become counterproductive,” the expert says.

Thus, the works manager has a complete overview of the work in your home. He is able to coordinate and make sure everyone meets deadlines so that everything is delivered on time. “He needs to speak the language of the person as well as the language of the building, because ultimately what matters is the satisfaction of the client and what his home has gained, in particular in terms of energy comfort,” continues the certifier. Having a single point of contact also allows you to have more control over your site and therefore always know who to contact. Ultimately, we win in smoothness and efficiency.

“Business managers are called upon to advise and offer solutions to individuals,” explains Julien Utin, Hellio’s marketing manager and energy management expert. Whatever the need, he determines what needs to be done, professionals follow the project, ensure the sequence of actions. He knows the craftsmen, selected them and ensured that they are certified. »

“He is a multi-faceted facilitator,” adds Christoph Kasta, renovation project manager, next to him. It performs precise and different work for every home, every person, depending on the goals. Thus, the role of the operations manager is central and valuable, which explains why it is in high demand.
