Wall Street opens in green and the Dow Jones rises 0.35%

Wall Street opened in green and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, its main indicator, rose 0.35% as investors analyzed the latest economic data.

Ten minutes after the start of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones stood at 34,697 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.43%, up to 4,486 points.

For its part, the Nasdaq market composite index, in which the main technology companies are listed, rose 0.46%, up to 13,876 points.

August Producer Price Index (PPI) data released today was more positive than expected, rising 0.7%, more than the 0.4% increase expected by economists surveyed by Dow Jones.

However, excluding food and energy, the core PPI rose 0.2%, as experts estimated.

Meanwhile, August retail sales were also better than expected, rising 0.6% versus the 0.1% increase expected by economists.

Excluding autos, retail sales rose 0.6% last month, more than the expected 0.4% increase.

Yesterday it was announced that the inflation rate in the United States rose five tenths in August and stood at 3.7%, a key figure for the next decision of the Federal Reserve (Fed) to continue raising rates or take a pause.

The US central bank will hold a two-day meeting starting on September 19 and will announce its decision on whether to raise interest rates the next day.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the European Central Bank (ECB) today revised downwards two tenths, to 0.7%, the economic growth forecast for the eurozone in 2023, while raising its estimate of average inflation for this year two tenths , up to 5.6%.

By sectors, green reigned and the biggest increases were for energy and real estate, which added 1.28% and 0.87%, respectively.

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest losses were for Visa (-2.67%) and Intel (-0.84%), while the biggest gains were for Caterpillar (1.96%) and Dow (1.76%). %).
