Wall Street closes in green and the Dow Jones gains 0.39%

Wall Street closed this Wednesday with its indicators in green, and the main one, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, rose 0.39%, after a Tuesday of widespread losses in the US and European stock markets.

At the end of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose to 33,130 points, while the selective S&P 500 rose 0.81% and closed at 4,263 points.

The Nasdaq technology index grew the most, 1.35%, up to 13,236 units, on a day when investors seemed to have opted for purchases taking advantage of the “sales” of the previous day.

The yield on 10-year Treasury bonds, which rose to 4.791% on Tuesday, its highest level in 16 years, corrected course today and fell slightly to 4.733%.

By sectors, the fall in energy (-3.36%) stood out on a day when the prices of Texas and Brent oil plummeted (-5.61% and -5.62%, respectively) to their lowest levels in several weeks, and this despite the fact that Saudi Arabia and Russia confirmed that production cuts will continue until December.

But the rest of the sectors closed with gains, the most notable being non-essential goods (1.97%), communications (1.28%) and technology (1.25%).

Among the Dow Jones listed companies, the decreases in Chevron (-2.33%) and Caterpillar (-1.46%) stood out, but in general the increases predominated, and among them those of Microsoft (1.78%), Amgen (1.7%) and Walmart (1.2%).

In other markets, at the close of the stock market, gold fell to 1,836.9 dollars per ounce and the dollar depreciated against the euro, with an exchange rate of 1.051.
