Uber now offers rides… in a hot air balloon

Uber is gaining momentum. Having been waiting for the flying taxis promised by the VTC app for several years now, the American multinational is launching “Uber Balloon” and offering its customers the opportunity to take off in a hot air balloon starting this Monday.

However, this new functionality offered by the platform remains limited, since it allows you not to go to work or return from an evening in a hot air balloon, but simply take a tourist stroll through Cappadocia, a Turkish region known for its magnificent landscapes. So this new app functionality allows you to book one of Turkey’s biggest tourist attractions as a simple VTC trip.

Uber said in a statement that “the hot air balloon flights will begin at dawn from Goreme, Cappadocia, taking passengers on an incredible 1.5-hour flight through the heritage-listed Goreme National Park.” The Uber Balloon is available for four weeks, from October 23 to November 19, for €150, which is on average cheaper than prices offered by local companies, which range from €150 to €300. Uber has announced that it will offer one hundred free rides spread over several days and limited to the first four users of the day.

New original experiences in 2024

Following the launch of Uber Boat in Mykonos or Uber Sleigh (reindeer sleigh ride) in Lapland, Uber is offering a new travel experience allowing its customers to discover the region during their stay.

“Turkey is one of our most popular destinations for international travelers and this is a new way to use our app to create a magical experience when visiting the country. “Explains Anabel Diaz, Uber’s Vice President of Mobility for EMEA. “We’re always looking for new ways to add a little Uber magic to your vacation, so stay tuned for more experiences to add to your Uber app bucket list next year,” she added.
