Bitcoin, the best-known and traded cryptocurrency, exceeds US$44,000 this Wednesday, revalidating its highest levels since the beginning of April 2022.
According to Bloomberg data collected by EFE, bitcoin rose 0.67% at midday, to US$44,194.02, its highest level since April 5, 2022.
During this night, the cryptocurrency has reached close to US$ 44,500.
Throughout the year, the price of bitcoin has appreciated 160%, although it remains far from the historical highs it reached on November 9, 2021, at US$68,991.
Experts explain that bitcoin’s bullish streak responds to the stoppage of interest rate increases by central banks and expectations that they have peaked.
They also point out that a new scenario has opened for the cryptocurrency market due to the involvement of BlackRock in its mission to create an exchange-traded fund (ETF) for this cryptocurrency.
