Wall Street opens in mixed territory and the Dow Jones falls 0.21%

Wall Street opened this Wednesday in mixed territory and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, its main indicator, fell 0.21%, on its way to breaking its bullish streak of the last ten days.

Ten minutes after the trading floor opened, the Dow Jones stood at 37,478 points, and the selective S&P 500 fell 0.13% to 4,762 points.

For its part, the Nasdaq market composite index, in which large technology companies are listed, rose a slight 0.02%, to 15,007 units.

The three indices have been rising for more than a week due to the decision, last Wednesday, of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to keep interest rates stable and its intention to carry out up to three rate cuts in 2024.

Today, investors are awaiting the release of consumer confidence data for December and home sales in November.

By sector, losses predominated, led by the essential goods sector (-0.78%) and raw materials (-0.61%), while the greatest gains were for the communication sector (0.97% ) and energy (0.51%).

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest increases were for Apple (0.24%) and Chevron (0.23%) and the losses of Intel (-0.9%) and International Business Machines (-0.64) stood out. %).
