Listeria: Potentially Contaminated Bacon Recalled Nationwide

Be careful if you’ve recently purchased bacon. Several boxes of “Bioporc Na Nature / La Saveur Biopoc” from the same manufacturer, sold between December 29 and January 2, 2024, have been recalled because the bacon pieces are likely to contain listeria, the Rappel Conso website indicates.

According to the Ministry of Health, listeria can cause “more or less high fever, accompanied by headaches and sometimes digestive problems.” More specifically, these are natural bacon and smoked bacon from the brands Le Bio des Éleveurs and Le P’tit Bio.

The natural Le Bio des Éleveurs bacon bits have lot number 874343, the smoked ones have lot number 874346. In both cases, they are products sold by Carrefour, Système U, Leclerc and Auchan, with expiration dates set for February. 4, 2024. These two products were sold in 150g plastic trays.

Don’t use them

This also applies to Le P’tit Bio plain bacon pieces with lot number 874344 and smoked bacon pieces of the same brand with number 874345. These also expire on February 4th. These products – in 150g trays – were sold at Relais Vert, NaturéO and Biofrais.

Regarding these four products, Rappel Conso advises that you no longer consume them and “return them to the point of sale” or destroy them. Returns are possible until January 22, 2024. Contact number available: 02 51 87 85 29.

However, “people who have consumed these products and experience fever, either alone or accompanied by headaches and body aches, are encouraged to consult their doctor and report this use.”
