IKEA is urging people to “immediately stop” using the product. The Swedish furniture company announced Wednesday that it is recalling all ÅSKSTORM Dark Gray 40W USB chargers (product number 50461193) “due to the risk of burns and electrical shock.”
This product “may be damaged or broken if wrapped around a charger or folded repeatedly after prolonged use,” IKEA explains. A damaged cable poses a danger to the user.

This recall affects all countries where this product is sold. The Government of Canada noted in its statement that worldwide, “the company received 17 reports that a power cord may have been damaged or broken during use, and some of these reports included thermal burns and electrical shocks affecting consumers.” .
IKEA urges users to “stop using it immediately” to avoid any risks. These chargers can be returned to any store for a full refund. No proof of purchase (receipt) will be required,” assures the company, which “apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this recall.”
