“I blame the post office”: Ellen’s vouchers worth 1,460 euros were stolen after they were sent by registered mail

Panic, surprise, then anger. These are the stages that Helen has gone through in recent weeks. An employee of an insurance company in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) sent holiday vouchers worth €1,460 by registered R3 (highest rate) post on 10 January. Over the course of two years, she and her partner saved up reimbursement checks for plane tickets she bought from a travel agency. “The agency is located in Paris, I had no other choice. Knowing that I’ve done this before, no problem,” she says. This summer, the couple is planning a trip with their two children to Canada and the United States from Vancouver to Honolulu.

A vacation that’s about to go bad. First, worry: she has no news about her registered letter. At the post office in Marseille he was assured that the letter had arrived at their offices located in the 8th arrondissement of the capital. She reassures herself and gives the travel agency the 30-day period provided after receiving the holiday vouchers to make a bank transfer of the planned refund. “But on February 20, I still don’t see anything on my account. I started to panic,” she said.
