Energy audit 2024: assistance to households will be paid from April 2 to May 15

The energy check that households are eagerly awaiting is due to arrive in less than a month. The Ministry of Economy and Finance has informed our colleagues from L’Internaute that energy checks will be paid between April 2 and May 15, 2024.

The assistance will be distributed gradually over six weeks, department by department. The detailed schedule by department is not yet known, as it is still being developed. In the last two years, priority has been given to Hautes-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand Est and Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

The check will be sent to 5.6 million households to help them pay their electric, gas or fuel bills. This is a higher figure than recorded in previous years.

10% price increase

This help comes as electricity prices rose by an average of 10% in early February.

As Le Parisien explained a few weeks ago, almost a million households were unable to receive this assistance this year due to administrative problems. Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire nevertheless confirmed that “there will be no losers.”

Households who believe they are eligible but have not received assistance will be able to apply after the payment deadline, scheduled for May 15.

The energy bill, which came into force throughout the country in 2018, is paid annually in the spring. It replaces the previously existing social tariffs for gas and electricity.
