SNCF: 500,000 tickets already sold for summer holidays on Wednesday morning

Many users are waiting for this event. SNCF put tickets on sale Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. for the summer period, from July 6 to September 11. According to SNCF data reported by Le Parisien (confirming information from BFMTV), 500,000 tickets had already been sold for the summer holidays by 9am. “The peak of sales was reached from the opening at about 6 am: up to 8 TGV were sold per minute on the website and in the application,” the company indicates. “Up to 400,000 people” were simultaneously connected to the SNCF Connect website or app before 9am.

SNCF is also doing better than last year, with a “50% increase in audience on the website and app simultaneously” compared to the opening of ticket sales in summer 2023. This time – unlike when ticket sales opened for the end-of-year holidays last October – there were no problems connecting to SNCF Connect, the train company confirmed at midday.

Book in advance to pay less

Before sales opened, SNCF advised travelers to book tickets as early as possible to maximize their chances of getting the right seats at the right time. It also gives you “a better chance of sitting together when you’re in a group.” Prices are also likely to rise over time. As for Uigo, this Wednesday, March 13, very competitive tickets for 16 euros for the summer period will go on sale.

In connection with the opening of the ticket office this summer, the SUD-Rail union called on SNCF agents working in ticket offices and telephone exchanges to go on strike to denounce their working conditions. The union is demanding, among other things, “additional hiring of customer service specialists” and “improved working conditions following the introduction of new ticketing software and taking into account the complexity of the jobs involved.”
