Online payment was already available during teleconsultations on Doctolib, and it will soon be available during doctor’s appointments, platform CEO Jean-Urbain Hubau said at a Senate hearing this Wednesday. “We are in the process of developing a system that allows (physical consultations) can be paid online,” he said.
The idea is to make the billing process “painless, transparent and flexible, whether third party or patient billing,” he said. It will also “save healthcare workers time,” he adds.
Something new this year
This new platform feature is currently being developed, but it will be implemented “this year,” assured Jean-Urbain Hubau, “online payments are planned for the second quarter, and the integration of third-party payments is planned for the end of the year.” “However, he adds that not all professions will be affected by this first wave, without specifying which ones.
Online transactions are already possible on Doctolib during teleconsultations, carried out “through online payment provider Stripe”, states Doctolib’s website, which guarantees it is “the most strictly available in the payments sector”.
Jean-Hurbain Hubau also said that Doctolib planned to “introduce many innovations for patients and caregivers in the coming months and the next two years,” citing, for example, the inclusion of artificial intelligence in certain processes.
