VivaTech 2024: Everyday AI and greener mobility showcased in Paris

Imagine yourself in a future where technology helps people live better lives without damaging their unique planet. VivaTech, organized by Publicis Groupe and the Les Échos – Le Parisien group (to which Le Parisien – Today in France belongs), will bring together the Porte de Versailles in Paris (15th arrondissement) for four days, from 22 to 25 May. , several high-performing themes. Goal: to present the innovations of tomorrow to professionals and the general public.

“We want to go even further and surpass last year’s figure of more than 150,000 visitors,” announces Maurice Levy, co-president of VivaTech. Europe’s largest innovation event brings together representatives from 120 countries, including new ones such as Canada and Australia.

AI beyond fantasy

Japan will be the guest of honor for the eighth edition and will come with a delegation of 40 companies specializing in entertainment, the environment and essential artificial intelligence (AI), especially generative AI.

Coming out of the labs and popularized by ChatGPT, the technology still suffers from an image deficiency. “We are going to highlight concrete examples of everyday AI through projects that bring realism back to sci-fi AI and show what it brings, rather than what it can compromise,” assures François Bituzet, CEO. “But we are not open about the changes it brings and the concerns it raises, we must discuss its role,” he warns.

International experts such as Yann Le Cun, director of research at Meta, or Swami Sivasubramanian, Amazon’s vice president in charge of artificial intelligence, will come to spark debate on the big stage. The elite of innovative companies in this field will also be represented by Arthur Mensch, co-founder of the startup Mistral AI, and managers of competing companies such as Aleph Alpha or Anthropic. Visitors will be able to see in action the algorithms of the Swiss startup Biped AI, which has developed seat belts to control blind or intelligent prosthetics from Esper Bionics. And also the Parisians from Primaa and their cancer detection software.

Tesla for the first time

Another theme chosen was sustainability (“sustainable development” in English) or “Technology that can solve the problems that it sometimes causes, such as pollution,” says Pierre Louette, CEO of Les Échos Group – The Parisian. This will take the form of innovative projects such as the microalgae-based air purifier from northerners Bioteos or Releaf paper, created from… fallen leaves.

Urban mobility will also be a focus. Car manufacturers such as the American Tesla or the Chinese BYD will come for the first time to present their electric vehicles. The business collective Software République will present a new concept car, parked for sure next to the Stellantis Inception, and its Hypersquare digital steering wheel, shown to the general public for the first time.

Because the visitors of the first three days on Saturday will give way to families and technology lovers. The general public day will be dedicated to gaming and eSports, with help groups such as Team Vitality or Karmine Corp participating. For every taste.
