Salmonella risk: Merguez cheeses recalled across France

With some nice weather coming this weekend, the BBQ urge may follow suit… so be careful with your food choices! Merguez, sold in U and Leclerc stores and some wholesalers, is being recalled across France, the Rappel Conso website said on Thursday, warning of dangerous products sold in the country. Salmonella was found in the food.

In particular, the recall covers Tradival brand sausages sold in trays of six, twelve or twenty-five pieces. They were on sale from March 27 to 29.

Salmonella detected during “self-test”

Merguez are sold throughout France, warns Rappel Conso, calling for vigilance by those who bought them. Salmonella was detected in food products “as part of a self-test,” the site clarifies.

“Food poisoning caused by Salmonella results in sudden gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea, vomiting), often accompanied by fever and headaches, usually occurring 6 to 72 hours after eating contaminated foods,” Rappel Conso reports to warn of possible symptoms.

If you purchased this product, you should no longer use it and return it to the store. Returns are possible.
