Leclerc, Auchan, Carrefour… Paupiette veal contaminated with salmonella recalled throughout France

Tendriade brand veal paupiettes, sold throughout France from April 3 to April 16, are being recalled because they are contaminated with salmonella and can cause food poisoning, Rappel Conso said on Thursday.

The corresponding meat trays were distributed by the Pomona and France Frais groups, suppliers of commercial and collective catering establishments and catering outlets. They were also sold under the Auchan, Carrefour, Cora, Intermarché, Leclerc and Système U brands.

The recall concerns several names and lots of Paupiet:

Risks of gastrointestinal disorders

The proven presence of Salmonella in these paupieta can cause “food poisoning infections,” points out Rappel Konso, who describes the accompanying symptoms: “gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) with a sudden onset, often accompanied by fever, aches and pains in the head.”

They typically occur “6 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated foods” and can be especially severe in young children, pregnant women, and even older adults.

“If there are no symptoms within 7 days after consuming the respective products, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor,” reassures Rappel Product Conso, emphasizing that cooking products at a temperature above 65°C before consumption helps destroy these bacteria.
