Motorways A13 and A14: soon it will be possible to pay certain tolls in tobacco shops

No more stopping on the highway? The president of the national confederation of tobacco merchants, Philippe Coy, confirmed this Sunday in an interview with Ouest-France that it will soon be possible to pay certain bills for travel in tobacco shops.

For the first time, this service will be available on the Paris-Normandy route. In October 2023, it was announced that toll booths on the A13 and A14 motorways would be replaced by camera-equipped portals. They will contain the license plate number of the motorist, who can then pay his bill online or at a tobacco kiosk.

“We will pass some toll points without stopping, but you will have 48 hours to pay your fare. This can be done online. But by the second half of the year you can pay for it at a tobacco kiosk,” explained Philippe Coy. “This collection is based on the Nirio (Française des jeux) network, which manages a private collection. 10,000 tobacco kiosk operators have already been approved,” the sector representative continued.

The evolution of the tobacco profession

Paying fines or taxes, selling hunting ammunition… The tobacco profession has changed a lot in recent years, especially due to the decline in cigarette sales.

“My desire is to turn tobacco stores into pharmacies Daily. That is, places where you can always find the right product at the last minute: a gift, local products, batteries, headphones, stationery… defended Philippe Coy.
