Casino: New organization announced Wednesday ahead of possible staff cuts

At the end of February, the commercial court of Paris gave the go-ahead for the takeover of Casino by a consortium of businessmen Daniel Kretinsky and Marc Ladrea de Lacharière. Backed by investment fund Attestor, the group’s new management since March 27 informed staff representatives this Monday that a “new company arrangement” within the group will be announced on Wednesday, according to an inter-union statement, although details of workforce cuts are awaited.

“Management has advised that this Wednesday, April 24, all authorities (CSEC DCF and Easydis) of the historical perimeter will be convened so that their respective heads can provide them with documents relating to the new organization of the companies that make up the Casino. Group,” clarified the inter-union (CGT, CFDT, Unsa, CFE-CGC).

Distribution Casino France (DCF) brings together stores under the Casino brand in France and Easydis, the group’s logistics activities are under threat from workforce cuts as Casino has decided to sell most of its large format stores to its competitors Intermarché, Auchan and Carrefour.

The next meeting on social plans

The Social and Economic Committees (CSE) of the seven Casino group companies were invited this Monday morning to an “information meeting on the economic situation of the company,” as one participant indicated, which usually represents the first act of protecting jobs. plan (PSE).

According to this participant, this should be followed by two more meetings: one on Wednesday to identify the order of workforce reduction in each enterprise, and then another “which will aim to present all social plans.”

At the end of March, new CEO Philippe Palazzi indicated in an interview with AFP and Progrès that there were still “hypotheses that need to be clarified” before the launch of PES. “Once we are ready, we will first inform the central CSE (socio-economic committee). And we will certainly make a plan for voluntary departure,” he said.
