SNCF CEO Jean-Pierre Faranda will be replaced after the Olympics

SNCF will change leaders after the Olympic Games. On Tuesday, the government announced that Jean-Pierre Farandou would not be reappointed for a second term as head of the railway group, but would continue his mission in the summer “to guarantee the successful organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

After the competition, “The President of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate will communicate the name of the intended successor, Mr. Jean-Pierre Farandou,” who has led the group since 2019. More details in the press release.

The CEO is at the center of a dispute with Bersi. He was called in by Bruno Le Maire for “responsibility” after agreeing to retire from SNCF.

The agreement, signed on April 22 by the four unions representing the railway company, a very rare event in the railway group, will allow railway workers to stop working before retirement without working for more than a year and receive payment of 75% depending on category, which sparked accusations of abuse of pension reforms introduced last year.

In addition to the summons in Bercy, Jean-Pierre Farandou is due to appear before the Senate Regional Planning and Sustainable Development Committee next Tuesday to discuss the “worrying consequences of the agreement.”
