Catalonia reduces the opening of bars and restaurants to mornings and noon

The Government allows family members to enter the community and reduces meetings to six people except on public holidays

A few days ago the Generalitat supported a campaign by the Gremi de Restauració de Barcelona to encourage consumption in bars and restaurants during the Christmas holidays. However, this support for restoration, for practical purposes, only lasted until the health data allowed it. From Monday until January 11, the bars and restaurants may only serve breakfast and lunch and must be open, keeping the safety measures of separation and mask, in the morning and at noon. Establishments that make take-out can also have dinner.

It is one of the measures established by the Government in what they consider to be an “escalation phase”, according to the Minister Meritxell Budó, which regresses the measures adopted so far by the Government to allow commercial activity in several phases. The Catalan administration establishes that the meetings must be of six people except on public holidays that can rise to 10 but of two bubbles of coexistence.

In addition, Catalonia maintains the perimeter fence of the community although entry and exit will be allowed to visit relatives. Mobility within the district area is also limited until January 11, although trips are allowed for family reunions or going to second homes or hotel reservations as long as it is a single bubble of coexistence. The curfew is maintained from 10 at night to 6 in the morning although the exceptions will be made for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, which will be until 1, and Reyes, which will start at 11 at night.

Restrictions on shops and sports activities are maintained, although gymnasiums in shopping centers will be closed. A special police plan will also be made to control compliance with the restrictions. The Government warned that this year there will be no real postman in any Catalan town, which is why it urged minors to send their requests electronically.
