The Global and Barceló groups have ratified this Friday the merger agreement of their travel divisions: Halcón Viajes and à ?? Voris, respectively, thus creating a tourism giant. Both have a turnover of almost 4,000 million and together they will become the first travel agency in Spain in terms of sales volume, ahead of Viajes El Corte Inglà © s, until now the leader.

This agreement, which was announced last year, shortly after Iberia announced the purchase of Air Europa, had the approval of the National Commission of Markets and Competition since last May, but it was suspended due to the pandemic.

“The resulting group, both by size and by presence in all branches of tourism activity, was born in a position to promote tourism, which is key in our country. Together, we will be stronger and we will be able to better serve customers and we will give more peace of mind to suppliers, “they say in a statement.

The new group was born with an annual turnover of 4,000 million, has a workforce of more than 6,000 employees and more than 1,500 points of sale and “it will have a key presence in the creation of the product through its different tour operator brands and also in the distribution to the end customer,” they point out.

à ?? voris includes retail travel agencies B the Travel Brand, B the Travel Brand & Catai; BCD Travel and BCD Meetings & Events and Evelop airlines! and Orbest. Globalia has Viajes Ecuador and Halcón Viajes; the network of partner independent travel agencies, Geomoon; the wholesaler Travelplan; the corporate travel division Globalia Corporate Travel; the travel and events agency Globalia Meetings & Events, and Globalia Autocares.

When the pandemic broke out, both companies decided to suspend their integration to resume when the situation returned to normal.
