The price of the dollar in Venezuela was operating on the rise this Thursday, amidst the proposal of an opponent on an election to renew the anti-Chavista leadership

The price of the dollar was trading at 4.98 sovereign bolivars in the informal market of Venezuela, a higher level by 4.61% compared to 4.75 units at the end of Tuesday, according to data from the portal DolarToday.

Venezuelan opposition María Corina Machado, one of the most radical voices among the detractors of the Government of Nicolás Maduro, proposed this Wednesday “a great popular election” to elect a new anti-Chavista leadership that “leads Venezuela to its freedom.”

“This is my proposal: let’s call a great popular election to elect the leadership that will lead Venezuela to its freedom, let’s do an epic feat, without the CNE (National Electoral Council) cheating, without the military who have turned the voting centers into barracks” Machado said in a video posted on his social networks.

Politics made this proposal after the local and regional elections last Sunday in which Chavismo won a broad victory with the participation of 42.26% of the electorate and in which the opposition bloc participated, with few exceptions, and in which There was an observation mission from the European Union (EU).

However, Machado considered that the “70% who did not participate” and assured that “no one believes neither the participation figures nor the results of the awards” of the winners, although he did not detail how he obtained the 70% abstention figure nor did he argue his thesis.
