With the Alentour site, local tourism is making its mark.

Are you looking for great deals for your next vacation or just a weekend getaway with family or lovers? Rather than going to the other side of the world to clear your head, why not support local trade by exploring regional terroirs?

This is the proposal put forward by Alentour.fr, the new internet platform set up by the government to give a boost to local tourism.

A QR code to scan

This website intends to connect professionals in leisure activities with tourist accommodation and institutions in the sector in order to offer varied and accessible offers to tourists from France. For visitors, the use is simple. Partner hotels and tourist offices offer to scan a QR code once there or send a clickable SMS in order to be able to access the complete list of leisure activities in the area and to book them from your smartphone.

This project obviously surfs on the general enthusiasm for Made in France, the will of citizens to support the local economy tested by the pandemic, but also the desire to develop eco-responsible tourism by focusing on local discoveries rather than exotic getaways.

Being still in its infancy, Alentour.fr listed some 1,000 bookable activities through around a hundred hotels, mainly in the Côte d’Azur, when it was launched as a test in July 2021.
