Price of the dollar in Chile: quotation of the Chilean peso today, December 24, 2021

The exchange rate rose on Thursday in Chile in a day with low volume of operations and that will end earlier than normal due to the start of the Christmas celebrations.

The dollar was trading at 867.20 / 867.50 pesos in the Chilean market, registering a rise of 0.89% compared to the Reuters reference price on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the main index of the Santiago stock market, the IPSA gained 1.18%, to 4,291.73 points.

On Monday, the exchange rate reached an all-time high of 876 pesos per dollar, while the stock market sank more than 7% amid much volatility, after the presidential candidate of the left, Gabriel Boric, will win the elections of that country.

However, Boric said Tuesday that he is “Listening to economic signals and the voices of Chileans“, In order to move his country forward.

He added that he hopes to reach several agreements with Parliament to implement reforms.

Investors, meanwhile, are on the lookout until more details about Boric’s cabinet and priorities are revealed next year. The new president will take office on March 11.
