The dollar in Venezuela was trading down this Wednesday, according to DolarToday, amid the increase in cases of contagion and deaths from COVID-19.

At the opening, the dollar stood at 4.82 digital bolivars in the informal market of Venezuela, a level lower by 1.65% compared to the previous day when it was quoted at 4.90, according to data from the portal DolarToday.

Venezuela registered five new deaths in the last 24 hours due to covid-19 and reached the number of 5,366 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported on Tuesday.

Miranda rose to the first place of contagion in the country with 139 new registered cases, followed by Caracas with 103, Zulia with 72, Yaracuy with 62, Aragua with 40, Lara with 33, Carabobo with 24, Anzoátegui with 17, Trujillo with 15, Táchira with 12 and Sucre with 11.

The entities with the least new infections are La Guaira with nine, Barinas and Bolívar with eight, Amazonas with seven, Apure and Portuguesa with three and Guárico, Delta Amacuro, Nueva Esparta and Falcón with a new case in each state.

With these figures, Venezuela reaches 448,463 infections since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 437,335 are recovered patients, which is equivalent to 98% of the total amount.
