Oscar 2022: where to watch the nominees for Best Foreign Film in streaming

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood announced the list of nominees for the 2022 Oscar Awards, whose award ceremony will take place on March 27, 2022. One of the categories that will attract the most attention this year will be Best Picture. abroad, where the Japanese film “Drive My Car” has managed to make the leap to other important categories, such as Best Picture.

STREAMING

“Flee” is the first movie you can watch streaming. For 5.99 dollars (23 soles on average), it is for rent on the Amazon platform. Another option is Vudu Fandango, a portal for renting and buying movies in the region.

The nominee for Best Foreign Film that is more accessible to the streaming audience is “It was the hand of God”, available on Netflix since November of last year. Well, the others have not shared the rights with the rest of the important platforms in Latin America.

JAPANESE CINEMA

Asian cinema has become more popular at the Oscars for a few galas. In the category of best foreign film, the Japanese film “Drive My Car” surprises as the favorite, as well as in the categories of best director, best adapted screenplay and, most importantly, best film.

“Drive My Car”, a 2021 film that Mubi has not yet added to its catalog, is about Yusuke (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a theater director who must face a job, which will unleash his hidden truths with the memory of his wife deceased, and he will do all this with the help of a woman, Misaki (Toko Miura), his driver on duty.

The film is based on the homonymous work of the consecrated writer Haruki Murakami. It is a collection of short stories from 2014 called “Men without women”.
