“La boda de Rosa”, the new Paula Usero, premieres in Latin America on Star+

In 2020, “Rose’s wedding”, the Spanish film directed in 2020 by Iciar Bollain and who star Candela Pena and Paula Usero, premiered in cinemas in its country of origin, as well as festivals such as Malaga, Alcalá de Henares and San Sebastián. This 2022, the film reaches streaming and the Latin American public, through Star+. The chosen date is this February 23.

Nominated for several awards, including 8 Goya, including Best Film, Best Direction and Best Leading Actress and Newcomer for the work of Peña and Usero, respectively, the film revolves around Rosa, a 45-year-old dressmaker who, tired of dedicating her time and life to others, will one day decide to give up everything and focus on a series of pending own, including marrying herself.

“We are all a little pink”

In an interview to RTVE, Iciar Bollain describes Rosa as follows: “It is a film dedicated to people who are dedicated to taking care of others. My mother is a great Rosa. She does it with great joy, she never complains and at 79 years old she still brings us and takes us in the car. Rose is like her. She is that person who is always there, at our disposal, and that we normally do not see. We only see her when she asks, like Rosa does. But the film actually grew out of those weddings with oneself that are becoming fashionable. We build the character later, investigating why people marry themselves, how they do it… In short, what makes someone need to make public a commitment “from today I’m going to take care of myself”.

Paula Userorecognized for her role as Luisita in “Love is forever” and “luimelia”, plays Lidia in “Rose’s wedding”, a 26-year-old woman with twin sons.

About this character. The 30-year-old actress said that when she received the script, the first impression she had was “how hard is it to do this”, since Lidia is a girl who lives in Manchester, and she had never been there. The actress had to travel and build from that city, part of her character’s life.

As for what the film offers us as a story, Usero said during his visit to the Malaga Festival 2020. “I think it is a very honest film in which it opens the door for us and puts us on the table as tools so that we can start a good life and be brave to say out loud that this is not what we want and we want to stop assume responsibilities and we want to stop caring and start caring for ourselves”.

Beside Candela Pena and Paula UseroSergi López, Nathalie Poza and Ramón Barea complete the cast.
