Francisco Sagasti says goodbye to Bernardo Roca Rey: “It has been a privilege to meet him”

After the death of Bernard Rock King, journalist and founder of various information spaces of Grupo El Comercio, various characters from the local media have shared heartfelt messages on their social networks. One of the most recent messages was from the former president of Peru Francisco Sagasti.

Through his official Twitter account, the former head of state shared a heartfelt message dedicated to Bernardo Roca Rey, where he also lamented his death and sent condolences to his family.

“I am very sorry for the departure of Bernardo Roca Rey. He leaves us lessons on how to practice journalism, promote culture and exercise leadership. It has been a privilege to know him and share bonds of friendship. My condolences to his family”wrote.

Bernardo Roca Rey played an important role in the development of Peruvian journalism, he was director of Publications and Multimedia for Grupo El Comercio, and he played a key role in promoting reading with cheap, hardcover books that were easily accessible to the public.

In addition, he was a promoter of Peruvian gastronomy with the Peruvian Gastronomic Association (Apega). Roca Rey was also the founder of various information spaces of Grupo El Comercio, including Somos, Perú21, Trome, Gestión, Canal N.
