Anna Delvey exhibits some paintings in New York as she awaits extradition to Germany

“Free Anna Delvey” is the theme of an exhibition in New York presenting works inspired by the career of this scammer but also some of the paintings she made. The young woman, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, inspired the Netflix series Inventing Anna, after being convicted of fraud. Just like in the series, the 31-year-old German borrowed money from wealthy people without ever giving it back.

While she has served her sentence, Anna Sorokin is again in prison, this time for not having updated her papers. The US immigration service arrested him for being in an irregular situation in the territory. From her cell, the one who also presented herself as an artist took out her colors and therefore finds herself exposed among other artists. But be careful, don’t be fooled by what you think you see.

The appearance

In the world of Anna Sorokin, the scam is obviously never far away. The exhibit is co-curated by Julia Morrison (who claimed to have text messages from Armie Hammer proving his cannibalistic fantasies and sold them in NFT) and Alfred Martinez, who himself served two years in prison for creating false Basquiat. And it was he who therefore reproduced the drawings of the young woman. “If she has to have someone to copy her art, it might as well be a Basquiat forger,” he confirmed to Insider, not without humor.

These four reproductions are on sale for $10,000 each. She promised to donate 15% to charity for children. 25% should pay his lawyers. Anna Sorokin contests her extradition and obtained the suspension of her return to Germany arguing that she has “serious health problems”. She also filed a complaint against the American immigration service (ICE) for having refused her a reminder of the anti-covid vaccine during her incarceration, a virus which she contracted in a cell.
