Badshah, J Balvin and Tainy team up for new single “Voodoo”

Singer, rapper and producer Badshah joins J Balvin to create an international hit called “Voodoo”, which comes out via Capitol Records.

This song, presented as a trilingual hymn (sung in Hindi, Spanish and English), was produced by hitmaker and producer Tainy (who has broken records alongside stars like Bad Bunny, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Anuel, Rosalía and Daddy Yankee, to name a few), who has made “Voodo” a captivating tale of desire and magic.

The supernatural theme of the song is portrayed in the impressive video, which has a great display of special effects, through which Badshah is getting ready to show the world his talent, as well as taking the first steps in his mission to bring the Desi-pop around the globe, thus uniting the culture of India with the West, armed with jubilant rhythms and choirs capable of transcending language.

Born in Delhi, Badsha is the most successful music artist of his generation, as it has been able to generate more than 15 billion streams globally, perform in more than 700 live shows and become an ambassador for various global brands. As if that were not enough, he is one of the few artists who has 18 songs above 200 million views on YouTube.

“Voodoo” marks the first collaboration between Badshah and Latinx icon J Balvin. In this regard, the artist comments: “J Balvin is like an idol for me. He has accomplished much of what I have tried to do in my own space. The way he has built his path, beyond language and odds, is something that really inspires me to continue.”

Armed with eerie synth effects and lilting dembow drums, Badhash and J Balvin trade verses, recounting what it means to be bewitched by a woman. In a colorful mosaic of international influences and otherworldly references, “Voodoo” captures the heat, danger and passion of being in love. The enigmatic aesthetic of the song is perfectly portrayed in the accompanying video, where we observe a fine and intricate choreography, as well as a candlelight ceremony in which spirits are invoked.

“One of the many reasons I started making music is because it’s about something universal: it connects with people across language barriers.”, mentions J Balvin. And he adds: “Badshah and Tainy are tremendous artists, and this collaboration is just another example of how we are able to bring people from different cultures together to find common ground and vibrate together.”

“Voodoo” is Badshah’s next release after his most recent EP, called ‘Retro Panda, Par 1′, released last month. This work, made up of four tracks, includes the mega hits “Tabahi” and “Jugni”, which have accumulated more than 290 million combined views on YouTube and more than 47 million reproductions on Spotify. In addition to this, the viral success that Badshah launched in 2021, “Bachpan Ka Pyaar”, accumulates more than 415 million views on YouTube, an amount that was reached in a period of 8 months.

In that same year, Badshah signed an exclusive deal with Universal Music Group to carry his career with Capitol Records. “Voodoo” continues the mission of the artist, who wants to bring Desi-pop and non-film music from India to a global stage.
