The film “Parallel Mothers”, by Pedro Almodóvar, and the actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are the main winners of the 2022 Platinum Audience Awards, announced this Saturday.
These ninth Ibero-American film awards will be presented on Sunday at a gala to be held in Madrid, in which the Spanish actress Carmen Maura will collect the award of honor.
The film by the Spanish Almodóvar was chosen best fiction filmwhich the director thanked in a video broadcast at the press conference in which the awards were announced.
The role of Penélope Cruz in that same film earned her public recognition as the best Ibero-American female performer.
Her husband, the Spaniard Javier Bardem, was named best actor for his work in “The good boss”, by Fernando León de Aranoa.
On television, the Argentinian “El Reino”, by Marcelo Piñeyro and Claudia Piñeiro, won the awards for best series and performers, Mercedes Morán and Chino Darín.
The Platino Awards recognize the best film and audiovisual productions, crews, and artists in Spanish and Portuguese of the past year.
