Pica Pica, the stars of YouTube for the little ones arrive in Peru: “The children taught us to be honest”

Pica pica returns to Peru with his show “Grandes Éxitos”. The YouTube musical phenomenon will perform 3 dates at Arena Perú in the Santiago de Surco district: on May 13, 14 and 15.

As a prelude to their long-awaited shows, Nacho Bombín (Ignacio Repetto), Belén Pelo de Oro (Belen Guijarro) and Emi Bombón (Emiliano Müller) They talked to El Comercio about their return to the stage after a parade forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

—You had a show scheduled in Lima before the pandemic and it was suspended, now you return with three dates with the new normality. How do you feel about returning to the stage?

Emi Bombón: We are very eager and excited to have contact with the Peruvian public. A year ago the events in Spain began to be made more flexible, but we know that in Peru the flexibility of the shows was given recently. So we are happy to be able to make our presentations with all the sanitary measures. We are grateful to be back at work and valuing life much more.

Bethlehem Hair of Gold: Now our performances are outdoors and we have changed the venue for the tranquility of our fans. The truth is that it is a gift to redo these presentations.

—What have you missed the most from your live shows?

Nacho Bombin: Definitely the smiles of the children, seeing them dance and witnessing that union that exists in the shows. Social networks helped us keep the ‘flame’ alive, but face-to-face attendance is missed. Although I know that masks will be used, but that is a way to return to normality. The public has to go to our shows so that they not only stay at home to enjoy our videos, but we can also go out protected to dance and enjoy that we are alive.

—You teach the ‘ABC’ and even English to children through your songs. What has Pica Pica learned from them?

Amy: Children have taught us to be honest, to be more truthful and to connect with that purity that adults have lost. To enjoy innocence, to contact that freshness of the look and to be able to appreciate every moment. It is very rich to be in contact with childhood because it has a world full of innocence.

Belen: They (the children) keep us from losing hope in everything we do. Especially on a day-to-day basis, because sometimes we forget that life is full of illusion and hope.

Nacho: Many times we have started a function with a cold body and the children make us warm up. They always find a reason to have fun and that is contagious.

—Through their social networks they share photos of the gifts they receive from the children. What has been the most significant for you?

Amy: All gifts are meaningful. Each present is a sign of affection and we do not feel that there is a better or a worse one.

Belen: Every drawing they give us is a work of art. I consider that there is not one better than the other, but that each one corresponds to a different age and stage. Those works of art are wonderful.

Nacho: The drawings mean that they have dedicated time, attention and enthusiasm in making each character. We are part of his imagination and his little brain that is forming.

—This is the third time they have visited Peru. What do you like the most about the country?

Amy: Its gastronomy seems impressive to us and the warmth of the public is something that we highlight a lot.

Belen: We have been lucky enough to only get to know Lima, but we still have a lot of country to discover. I think the time will come to enjoy more.

—In your case Bethlehem. Does it make you sad to be away from your son for tours?

Belen: Of course, but we are always in contact.

—How did motherhood help you for the Pica Pica project?

Belen: It has helped me to be more aware of the work we do and the responsibility we have for everything we can transmit. My son has taught me how important fun is. He has combined motherhood with the pandemic and that leads us to the conclusion that children have the need to socialize, sing and experience music.

—When children like a song, they don’t get tired of repeating the same theme over and over again. Does the same thing happen to you with your successes on YouTube?

Nacho: I love “The patio of my house” and “The dance of the fruit”.

Amy: That is happening to me with the songs that will come. I hum the songs that haven’t come out yet, since they’re new I have them in my head

Belen: Actually I never get tired of singing Pica Pica songs because we owe it to our audience.

—The new songs you mention have already been released?

Nacho: We are already premiering the new songs on our YouTube channel. These songs are from our album “Tutifruti”. Every Thursday we will release more songs from the album. We have already launched “El baile del chipi chipi” and “Al corri de la patata”.
