Shakira before Piqué: this was her first visit to Lima for the Home Fair | PHOTOS

Shakira She has become the focus of world attention due to the separation from her husband of more than a decade, Gerard Piqué. The sudden interest in the private life of the Colombian singer has somewhat left behind her long and successful career as one of the best-known Latin American artists worldwide, a relationship she shares with Peru as one of the countries where she began her rise to fame. fame.

WITH PERUVIAN FLAVOR

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll visited Peruvian lands for the first time in August 1996, when the singer from Barranquilla – from the Colombian city of Barranquilla and not our Barranco – was invited to be part of the luxury cast that the Home Fair prepared for its anniversary number 30°, sharing the stage with artists like Julio Sabala, Franco de Vita, Cristian Meier, Fito Páez, Gianmarco, Marc Anthony and Carlos Vivesamong others.

At that time Shakira was still at the dawn of her international career: only three years earlier, in 1993, he had dazzled the ‘Monster’ of Viña del Mar with his song “Eres”an interpretation that earned him third place in such an outstanding musical show.

By the time she was going to perform in Lima, on August 1 and 2, 1996, Shakira had already evolved quite a bit in her music, leaving behind her idealized songs around the romance of her first two albums, she released a third album, “Pies Barefoot”, where he presented a more original and personal voice in his music.

I feel authentic and I have a great taste when I present myself to the public without masks”, he said during a conference in Lima where more than one fan of the Colombian artist sneaked in.

“I’M HERE”

Shakira had two presentations at the Home Fair that year. The first, on August 1, had an audience of around 20,000 people.

Sixty minutes nailed was the period agreed for the show that brought as a novelty changing backgrounds with each song -previously they were only seen with Phil Collins and Roxette-, laser lights (cyberlights) specially brought by their production team and a Shakira interpreting `I think of you to the rhythm of Bachata”, Milagros Leiva wrote in Trade about that night. “She, dressed in black, did not stop smiling and memorized the `Chim…pum…Callao’ that was sung to the sound of the snare drums. “Peruvians have the habit of smiling, so thank you… for the love and for coming,” she said at the beginning of her show. After her, no one could prevent `I’m here’ and `Where are you heart’ from being the songs practically demanded by the public, who did not stop applauding her and forced her to return to the stage for the second time.”

His second presentation occurred just one day later, as part of the presentation of the Great Star of the Home Fair, and did not leave his Peruvian fans unsatisfied, despite starting 30 minutes after the agreed time.

Tens of thousands of people came to the Feria del Hogar to see the artist during her two presentations.

On that occasion, the singer’s production again did not disappoint, with excellent sound quality and laser lights that helped to outline the figure of the singer, dressed in a jacket and a silver blouse, who dynamically played all the songs on her album ” Pies Descalzos”, combining guitars with timpani to give it a Caribbean flavor when needed.

Shakira not only left her mark at the Home Fair and on those dates she was also invited to the “De Dos a Cuatro” program, hosted by Raúl and Elena Romero for ATV, and to “Las mil y una de Carlos Álvarez” on Latina Televisión, spaces where he also performed some of his songs.
