American Music Awards 2022: Bad Bunny leads the nominations

Bad Bunny became this Thursday the great favorite of the American Music Awards (AMA) by garnering eight nominations, ahead of Beyoncé, Drake and Taylor Swift, who received six nominations each.

The success of the Puerto Rican in awards that for decades have focused exclusively on Anglo-Saxon artists demonstrates the good state of music in Spanish, since until now Hispanic stars only stood out in the Latin version of the awards, known as the Latin American Music Awards. and delivered in a separate ceremony.

Bad Bunny is nominated for the most important award of the night, the artist of the year, along with AdeleBeyoncé, Drake, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

In addition, the Puerto Rican will also compete for the awards for the best tour of the year, best music video for “Me Porto Bonito”, best pop artist, best pop album for “Un Verano Sin Ti”, best Latin album, best Latin artist and best Latin song.

The rest of the artists nominated in the Latin categories are: Farruko, J Balvin, Jhayco and Rauw Alejandro, for best Latin artist; Anitta, Becky G, Kali Uchis, Karol G and Rosalía, for best Latin artist, and Banda MS, Caliber 50, Eslabon Armado, Grupo Firme and Yahritza y la Esencia de ella, for best group.

For its part, The candidate albums for best Latin album are “Motomami”, by Rosalía; “La 167″, by Farruko; “Jose”, by J Balvin; “Vice Versa”, by Rauw Alejandro, and the aforementioned “Un Verano Sin Ti”, by Bad Bunny.

The winners will be announced on November 20 at a ceremony to be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. (USA), just a week after the Latin Grammys are awarded, for which Bad Bunny is also the favorite with 10 nominations, including best album of the year.

The American Music Awards serve as a prelude to the prestigious Grammys, albeit with the difference that they are determined by a popular poll of music consumers, rather than voted on by industry experts.
